Latest vintage of Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage awarded 5 Star Platter rating for the second year in a row. It would seem that even from canine heaven we are being inspired and blessed by a true friend in capturing a style of Pinotage to showcase its true character. Diesel would have been a fine Pinotage maker as he had more faith in this cultivar than most people.
Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage 2008 was awarded a 5 star rating in the new John Platter Wine Guide for 2011. This years edition of the John Platter Guide features fifty eight 5 star ratings, the highest number in the history of its existence. This makes this wine even more meaningful being the only Pinotage to achieve a five star rating for the second year in a row. This wine is a 100% Pinotage and is a selection of the 20 best barrels of Pinotage available in the cellar in terms of quality and uniqueness, This wine is matured in new French Oak barrels for 19 months. The guide describes the wine as having layers of spiced berry compote on a silk textured palate. The Diesel Pinotage is not the only wine from Beyerskloof which has featured well in the guide. The Pinotage Reserve 2007, Field Blend 2005 and Faith 2007 all received ratings of 4½ stars.
Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage 2008 is available from our tasting room at Beyerskloof, as well as selected retail outlets at a Retail Price of between R350.00 – R400.00 per 750ml. If you do not get your hands on some of this wine you might find yourself in the Dog Box.
